It’s January 1st, 2016 which means two things. First, you made it to a brand new year, which alone is cause for celebration! Second, (and arguably more importantly) it is officially National Mentoring Month! To start this month off right, we’re laying out the biggest events of the coming weeks, so you’ll be in the loop from day one. We are so excited to be kicking off #NationalMentoringMonth, and hope you’ll keep up with us as we celebrate mentors everywhere. You can find us on Twitter, Facebook, & Instagram.
1. Philadelphia 76ers Art Mentoring Contest
Calling all Philly youth between the ages of 10-24! We invite you to participate in the Philadelphia 76ers Mentoring Art Project, a visual and literary art competition. The deadline to submit is January 5, 2016.
The Philadelphia 76ers Mentoring Art Project (MaP) is a Philadelphia competition to encourage and empower youth to express their ideas about mentorship through visual and literary storytelling. MaP will select, reward, and exhibit art that reflects youth experiences with (a) formal mentoring programs; (b) informal mentoring from teachers, family members, community leaders, and others; and (c) peer-to-peer mentoring among youth. The competition is free to enter.
2. Mentoring Partnership & Resource Center (MPRC) Trainings
On January 14th, we will be hosting an intensive training from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM that will ensure your youth mentoring program is developed, operated, and sustained at the highest level of quality based on the Elements of Effective Practice. Register now!
3. National Thank Your Mentor Day
January 21st is #ThankYourMentorDay! We’re encouraging everyone who was lucky enough to have a mentor positively influence their life, to reach out and say thank you. Be sure to tweet us at @mentorpartners and include your mentors name and some of the specific things they’ve taught you.
4. National Mentoring Summit in Washington, D.C.
